Today's Updates, September 5th
Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 03:44PM Writing with Pull, Class 4
In "Writing with Pull, Class 4" we used a real-life example and went through the brainstorming process on how to create content (following the formula we covered in classes 1-3) for the target market: Business Prospects.
Since it took about 90 minutes to take you from A-Z in creating tons of content for that target market, we'll be doing the other two examples (how to create content for Wellness type prospects or Travel industry prospects) in separate sessions, which we'll post soon. Those will still be part of Class 4 and will not be Live. I'll record them and let you know when they're posted.
We are posting the 'Writing with Pull, Class 4' that uses the example of creating content for Business Prospects later this evening (Saturday) in the Professional training area.
To find it log into your Professional account at www.MarketingMerge.com
Click on 'Attraction Marketing' and then on 'Marketing Tutorials' -- all of the Writing with Pull courses are on the right side.
Of course you want to start with Class 1 and go through the classes in order. You'll really have everything you need to start creating highly attractive content for your target market by Class 3. The classes after that just reinforce what you've learned.
If you don't see Class 4 check back later Saturday evening or early Sunday morning and it should be there.

Marketing Merge Network (Super Guides) Leads & Training Program Update...
We sent an email today to the Marketing Merge Network (Super Guides) who submitted their 30 pieces of content in time to go onto the next step to join the Super Guides program.
If you're on that communications list and didn't see the email, log into this blog at the Log in link on the left... use the password you were given last last month. After you log in you'll see a link appear on the Nav bar (lower on left) called "Super Guides." The update is in there.
If you haven't yet been invited to the 'Super Guides' network it's a special training and lead generation program where you participate with a group of other Marketing Merge students and me to contribute to generating leads (and sharing them).
You'll be invited in the future if you're not already participating.
Marketing Merge Mastermind
I also sent an update to the Mastermind group today. Our next mastermind brainstorming session will be on Wednesday, the 17th at 6:30 pm PST (9:30 EST). I'll send you an invitation link if you're on the Mastermind group before the call.

Attention Marketing Merge Network "Super Guide" Enthusiasts
Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 07:54AM If you jumped through some hoops and submitted 'first step requirements' a couple months back to take a step towards qualifying for leads and specialized training in the Marketing Merge Network program, this message is for you.
I had sent two emails last week to this small group of you following the Marketing Merge Network progress.
I noticed that 20% didn't open the email.
If you qualified to be in the loop for the Marketing Merge Network program and didn't see those emails, contact didi@marketingmerge.com with the subject 'Super Guide' program.
The deadline is fast approaching for the next step requirements to be complete (basically to prove you have created at least 30 peices of content of your own and properly book marked it). This is the next step to be in the first group of Super Guides (which is what we're calling those who fully qualify to be a part of this). In the email to didi@marketingmerge.com, mention that you had qualified but didn't get the emails last week.
To avoid missing important information, everyone should add us to your email address book so you get all our emails! Go to www.whitelistus.com for help on that.
If you're reading this but have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, that's OK. Most people don't! The Marketing Merge Network "Super Guides" program is by invitation only and is available only to those who have moved through Phase I and II of the Professional training area, and who can demonstrate a grasp of the principles, AND... who are willing to contribute/participate to the group as a whole. The point of the program is to prepare for a massive incoming of network marketers and small business owners who will be seeking guides in the new attraction model.
Everyone will have an opportunity to participate. In the meantime, keep building up your web of content because that's one of the first requirements.
Writing with Pull, Class 4 Moved to Wednesday, September 3rd

Would You Like Me to Refer My Best Prospects to You?
Monday, August 25, 2008 at 10:04AM I've deleted the orginal message here. Have plenty of people to refer prospects to now.
We'll be annoucning more opportunities in the future to plug into the Super Guides program, which allows you to be on the receiving end of leads generated from our large and growing network of content.
In the meantime, sharpen your skills and build your own web of content because Super Guides must have created a lot of content and have a grasp on the principles we teach at Marketing Merge in order to qualify.
If you had originally given your contact information here in the comments section, thank you!

Why You're Just "Duping" Yourself If You Think You Can Build a Sustainable and Thriving MLM Business without First Developing an Audience
Monday, August 18, 2008 at 05:36AM Whether you realize it or not, you may have duped yourself into MLM business failure. Many have.
If so, it's costing much more than what you've spent on business opportunities, training, marketing, leads or sales aids. It's costing more than just lost time.
It's quite literally costing you the exhilarating experience of fulfilling your goals and dreams (and any dreams you have for your family).
That's the greatest cost of all.
Here's the definition of the word 'Dupe' according to dictionary.com
dupe1
noun, verb, duped, dupĀ·ing.
| 1. | a person who is easily deceived or fooled; gull. |
| 2. | a person who unquestioningly or unwittingly serves a cause or another person: a dupe of the opponents. |
| 3. | to make a dupe of; deceive; delude; trick. (verb) |
So 'to be duped' is to be fooled or deceived.
But why would people deceive themselves?
The answer explains why the MLM industry is famous for its 'Get Rich Quick' and 'We'll Do it For You' propaganda.
It's because there's a large number of people who want to believe they can get something for nothing.
It's a fundamental (but primitive) desire.
It's an underdeveloped person to want such things, and that's why you'll find a completely different message at the opposite end of the spectrum in MLM--skill development.
Things Like:
- Leadership Development,
- Personal Growth,
- Communication &
- Marketing Training
This is what makes MLM work. It's where the leaders and high-income earners are born.
Did Someone Dupe You Into Believing You Can "Hit it Big" in Network Marketing Without Developing an Audience and Skillsets?
Has anyone ever told you something like, "You gotta' get in now!"
Or,
"We don't have time to build an audience or develop our marketing skills! We have to grow our business NOW and get the word out any way we can!"
If someone has led you to believe that you can create wealth in MLM without skill development or attracting an audience than you've been duped (just as I once was).
But you've been duped by yourself.
The reality is you have to take personal responsibility for where you are and what you've done up until now. If you've been duped, you're much better off blaming yourself for the dupe-job. Personal responsibility is a key trait in winners, business leaders, and successful network marketers.
Note that there's nothing wrong with approaching friends, family and peers about a business opportunity or product line if you want to--but to believe that this alone will allow you to 'hit it big' without first establishing a leadership role within a particular audience is ridiculous.
"But Mike, I know some people who have made a gazillion dollars in 3 weeks in this MLM and they didn't build an audience."
Have you ever really studied the lives of these people who have made tons of money overnight?
They either built an audience through home or hotel meetings (and referrals from others), or through conference calls or online presentations. In rare situations they didn't have to lead a presentation and they used powerful sales aids, like a DVD (this is very rarely accomplished in reality although it's commonly tried). Even in such cases they developed an audience and built a relationship with that audience--by leveraging some form of an event (usually many types of 'events').
So even if they did it the old-school way of contacting friends and family, cold-calling or striking up conversations initially in the grocery store line, they invited people to 'the next step' (which was a meeting or conference call, or eventually a company event) and they slowly built their audience that way. They built relationships with that audience.
And then they leveraged that audience to build a large organization through referrals.
There is no exception to this need to develop an audience in network marketing, even in the old-school model of MLM. All successful people had to develop an audience to win.
Of course, you don't always hear this part of the story.
You'll sometimes get just pieces of it... and those are naturally the juiciest parts that appeal to your emotions most... often leaving out the "how to" or the blood, sweat and tears that came before it.
Often they do tell you how bad and rough it was before they hit it big in their MLM, but they tell it in a way that makes it sound as though they were lucky to find their MLM--that it was the MLM that made the success happen.
Now, there are some very good leaders and uplines out there that share the bigger picture because they know, long-term, they will attract more success by doing so.
They share the fact that you do have to develop skills.
The only challenge is that they usually teach methods that rely on outdated 1980's style sales skills, instead of developing modern (highly leveraged) methods of marketing.
When you are marketing, you attract your audience, which gives far more leverage.
Here's the bottom line that you must accept if you plan to win in MLM...
Whether it's the old-school way or the new school 'attraction marketing' way, you have to build an audience to succeed in network marketing.
In the old-school way, it's going to initially happen by a cold-call or 'going through the numbers' with friends, family and strangers, which then leads to expanding that audience at meetings or events. In the new-school way it can start and expand through your marketing online, where people come to know and trust you.
So if you have to develop an audience to be successful in MLM, what are your options?
Here are Some 'Old-School' MLM Methods Still Commonly Taught Today (I Do Not Personally Recommend for Most).
These are Categorized as Very Low Leverage... Meaning They Require a Lot of Time Upfront to Produce a Low Result
- Make a names list and approach people with the numbers game (imagine how that appears... how do you like it when you're approached about an MLM or product from someone you know). If you perceive that experience positively than this is probably a good option for you. Most don't perceive this as a positive experience and, therefore, it's not effective for them. If you do choose this approach, highly developed leadership traits would need to be acquired (if you do not already possess them).
- Cold-calling leads. Again, if you enjoy getting cold-calls than you'll probably do well at this method. Most do not enjoy receiving or doing cold-calls so this is often a failed method. You still have a lot of skills to develop (listening and communication skills). Your skill level will need to be very highly evolved to be successful with this method because these people do not know you and your first step is to establish trust. Not surprisingly, it is a long road (like years if not decades) for most people to develop this level of communication and report-building skills.
- Approach strangers you run into at the store, mall, etc. If you already love striking up conversations everywhere you go and do it naturally, why wouldn't you continue to connect with people this way? If you love it then you'll keep doing it... It will be just a matter of developing additional skills to comfortably invite people to consider the benefits of your business. Still, highly evolved leadership and communication are a must, and often need a lot of work before seeing success with this method. If you are not already comfortable striking up conversations, this method will be a long-road.
You can use the above old-school MLM methods as a starting point to invite people to watch a DVD (or review some resources), or invite them to conference calls, online presentations, home meetings, company events, etc--but it all leads to a very inefficient way of building an audience.
Your audience must still be built... people who either buy from you now, will buy from you later, have joined you in your opportunity, will join you later, or who will never join you but who know what you offer and may or may not send you referrals.
In the old-school way, you do not have a lot of leverage until you see duplication on a large scale, which is rare.
It's almost as though it has to either happen all at once or never happen at all.
The Absolute Most Effective Way to Build an Audience and Your MLM in the Modern Age...
So if you're going to be building an audience anyway, what's the best way to go about it?
As you've already been hearing (I'm sure more than a few times by now) the Internet gives the greatest leverage for building a business.
It's the only tool within your grasp that puts you in reach of the entire world. And most of your options for marketing on the web are either free or extremely low cost.
The Internet has evolved in the last 18 months.
Sites like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Digg, Squidoo, and other Web 2.0 Social Networking resources have made it possible for average people to interact, share and participate in the Internet economy.
It's become so simple to create content (like a website, blog, YouTube video and profile) that 'newbies' still learning to send their first email are learning to 'brand' themselves online at the same time... and doing so effectively.
How do you use the Internet to build your audience?
It's Called Attraction Marketing
You've seen 'attraction marketing' all around you, all your life.
For example, when you see the magazines in the grocery store line your experiencing attraction marketing on the receiving end. Do you feel pressured to buy anything from the magazine? Of course not. But you know the magazine was placed there to catch your interest.
Compare this to a door-to-door salesmen or telemarketer who tries to sell you 'out of the blue' on buying the same magazine...
Does your guard go up?
Of course it does.
And this shows you the powerful advantage you have if you learn to employ attraction marketing in your MLM business (as opposed to pitching or going through the numbers like the door-to-door salesman or telemarketer).
Let's go back to those magazines in the grocery store line.
Does the magazine make any money when you pick it up and browse through it?
Not from you... unless you buy it.
But check this out! They still make money! And that's the other powerful aspect of attraction marketing, that you can also be enjoying while building your MLM business.
How does the magazine make money if you don't buy right there on the spot?
Well, they know that after a lot of exposure you may buy later. They're still working the numbers game, but in a much more leveraging way.
They know you may subscribe to the magazine later because you enjoyed it so many times while waiting to buy groceries... so when the timing is right and you have a chance to subscribe by mail (or on the web) you pick it up then. You were exposed to it so many times in the grocery store line that you came to trust it as a magazine you'd enjoy.
You may even buy it in the grocery store line but not subscribe to it right away... which is another income stream they count on as a 'front end' way of making money while bringing you closer into their audience.
No one pitched you. That's why it's so effective.
But attraction marketing goes further...
The magazine doesn't just make money if you buy the magazine (or later subscribe to it)... they also make money by 'monetizing' through advertisements they sell inside the magazine. This money doesn't come from you but from companies.
Those companies (and the magazine) know that millions of people will be exposed to their ads even if they don't buy or subscribe (just from browsing in the grocery store lines). So the magazine is making money in more than one way while they're constantly attracting more customers to them.
That's just one example.
Have you ever asked to receive something free by email or by mail? If you liked the information or whatever it was you received, then you probably paid closer attention when this same person or company emailed or mailed you the next time.
And these are often the people and companies we end up trusting and buying from.
Radio and television operate the same way--they provide free value that attracts an audience. Then they make money out of that situation.
Build an audience and you can't help but learn how to make money in MLM, or any way you choose.
How Does this Attraction Model Carry Over to the One-On-One Conversation You Have With Your Network Marketing Prospects?
There are quite a few ways you can attract your audience to you. You can set it up so they call you first (by inviting them to do so). Because you're attracting people interested in what you offer (whether that's a certain kind of product or a business opportunity) many of them will want to talk to you, particularly if you've given them something first (which is what we teach you how to do).
But one of the most successful ways of carrying the attraction model over to the actual conversation on the phone is to do what's called 'The Consultative Approach.' This means you offer a free consultation on a particular topic related to the subject of your business. This postures you in a leadership role and is far more attractive as a starting point than pitching your deal (obviously).
Attraction Marketing is All Around You...
The Internet is a powerful tool for employing 'attraction marketing' principles... because it's so inexpensive (in fact, it's ridiculous how inexpensively you can have everything you need to market yourself like a big company).
By learning how to give something away, or just by sharing tips... ideas, experiences... anything... you attract your audience to you.
With an audience of people coming to you on their own, feeling comfortable and appreciating you--it puts you in a far better position to offer a solution to their problems or needs (like a business opportunity or product, for example).
And just like the magazine who makes money selling ads to companies on one end, and the subscription to you on the other end, you can create multiple income streams through many passive 'monetizing' strategies of your choice, while you're building your audience at the same time.
This way, you're generating revenue while you're building your own prospects list for your MLM. In addition to funding the early stages of your MLM business development, this gives you much more security long-run. And instead of it being a distraction as the old-school MLM model would naturally want us to believe, it actually empowers you to become a true business system owner--the utopian goal for the MLMer seeking 'true' financial freedom.
The Internet Attraction Model Can Be Used to Build Any Home-Based or Small Business
This is what we're teaching you how to do at Renegade University and with the Marketing Merge Professional program in Step 3 at the University.
Renegade University gives you thorough training to introduce you to all of this, and to show you real examples of how it works (in Step 3).
Then, when you're ready to begin actually doing it, we'll show you step-by-step how.
We won't just show how and where to go to set things up... we also teach you simple step by step methods to help you create the content (and value) that attracts your audience to you.
If you accept that, indeed, to be successful in MLM or network marketing you must develop your audience, then we'll show you the most effective way of going about it online.
Pitching your deal and playing the numbers game is short-sighted. Building relationships with the right kind of prospects who came to you... who perceived you as helpful, or as a resource, gives you an advantage you just can't get when you're chasing people down.

What People Had to Say About 'Writing with Pull' after Just the 3rd Class (Remember we still have 3 more classes in this course to go!)
Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 08:32AM Here are what some people had shared with us after watching the 3rd 'Writing with Pull' class. This course is found in the Marketing Merge Professional back office.
See if you can relate to any of the challenges they had in creating content -- and see the breakthroughs they have made...
"Wish it would have been available from the start. I suffer from big blocks in writing and this is helping to bring out the creativity. Thanks." Bernie Blattler
"I'm very comfortable writing. I currently write an article for a magazine that serves my target and I have been published in other works as well. What I am LOVING about this course is the systemization process in creating the topics and collateral content. I've never been at a loss for what to write about, but this takes that process and puts it on steroids. I enjoyed the information on creating several rough drafts of the same topic...great idea!" Trudy Salinas
"This class has been beneficial in helping me with writing and content creation. The breakdown of the content for each class reminds me of one having a recipe book in front of you guiding you in the making of a great meal. Great class keep!" Annette Jackson
"This course has helped tremendously. I feel very confident that I will be writing more effective articles and will be attracting an enormous amount of traffic that will bring me many more prospects. This training is a must for every marketer and can help any business to be successful. Awesome teacher." Elmira Johnson
""This is fantastic.... this breaks through all the blocks in my head.. cannot wait to put it into practice... Please tell Mike, this is possibly the best lesson I have ever had in my whole life... I have done some writing before but this course has made it much more simple... and not feeling overwhelming to approach massive content. Thank you very much." Claire Covington
"My biggest challenge is patience and time. Patience to not work too much forward. Patience in knowing that is takes time and effort to see results. Tonight's class was fantastic, especially the chart and information on how to create tons of content in a short amount of time." Mike Witt
"This is very helpful. I always have to go over the recorded training a few times. Being able to review all of your training as many times as needed is really a help to me. I am now able to do many things like blog, squidoo that I would have never been able to do before. Now with training I will be able to improve what I am writing." Sandra Hudson
"Tonight's class made it more clear how start the process . I feel more confident, maybe I can do this. Thank You!" Gladys Wood
"Mike, this course is great. I enjoy writing but I've been making it far more complicated than it needs to be. Your formula makes it much easier to get content out there. I really like the idea of getting more than one article out of one topic. Yes, the course is helping my confidence, writing, etc." Scott Hubbard
"I think this has definitely helped to give my writing some direction. Up until now I have just been writing off the cuff, just putting down anything that came to mind without any idea of where it was going or where it would end. I can also see how with just the "by reading this article" sentences I have on one topic I can write several articles, thereby saving a lot of time." Shelley Cook
"This class has been great and I feel so much more excited about writing. I can't believe how much I've learned." Judy Jackson
"This has helped -- by making the process step by step and by illustrating with the visual which is how my brain needs to 'get it'." Kate Williams
"This course has provided great resource and guidelines for creating content, how to write it and a much better sense of business success as a result." Mike Sweeney
"Yes, Mike this has helped tremendously. Are you aware that your method of teaching for this is like the ancient Hebrew "Chiasms"? It really is! You're a great teacher. Thank you for your sharing attitude and may you always have joy and prosperity because of your caring and sharing." Luci Flint
"The course lets me know that if I follow this plan, my work will make sense, be acceptable and work for me and my target market. It gives me great confidence, not just a little. Also, the push to be creative is exciting. I always just want to be me, not pretend to be somebody else, and hoping that people will like what they see. It's a relief, actually. I've been doing it all along and wanted validation that it was ok to be different. Thanks for everything!" Becky Joubert
"It was very clear and presented in a way that not only built upon the last 2 classes but lead clearly into the next steps, thanks." Dan Varella
"Yes, this course has been great. Writing has always come easily for me but I have learned ways to draw people in with my writing as opposed to just "writing". Great webinars, great tutorials." Anita Kulik
"Mike, I'm impressed! Thanks for this great webinar series that will definitely help me in my writing process in particular and in my business in general." Vladimir Mikhaylov
"Loving it - THANK YOU for the incredible effort you are putting in. I think the process of actually working through and "organizing" my thoughts has been the biggest plus for me." Zoe DeLuca
"I am so glad i'm apart of R U. It saves me a lot of frustration. Thank so much for this class... to me it seems more simple to write this way. Thanks." Latisha Wright
"You have shown me how to think my way through my Writing projects." Willie Williams
"The step by step plan that Mike Klingler has put together with template and flow chart for writing articles is a formula that will make article writing a breeze to do." Joci James
"This is awesome. The timing is excellent; I was already headed this way so it's a great affirmation. The idea that I can turn one topic into several is fantastic!" Irene Kirkman
"Another brick in the structure." Billy Emmons
"I liked what you said tonight about breaking through the confidence, fear of success factor by continuing to write, even if it is "ugly and messy". Becoming our creative selves and that it is "safe" to be ourselves are very encouraging words. Thank you." Kathy Beaman
--------------------------------------------
I'd like to personally thank everyone who shared their comments. And although I wasn't able to take the time to include everyone's message here, they were all read and very much appreciated.
Keep rockin' out there! Success is a never-ending learning process. Keep learning and sharing. Empower and be empowered!

Barbara Silva shares several successes after watching the Webinar on Twitter last week.
Hi Mike,
I just wanted to let you know that while I have been using Twitter for some time now, it had never occurred to me to leverage from other people's Twitter friends. Following your tips from the Twitter Webinar, I went in Saturday night and clicked on Mike Dillard's friends.
This is Monday afternoon and I have had 954 people add themselves to my friends list with about 50 more coming in every time I recheck my email. Sunday afternoon, I had made two sales of the Renegade Network Marketer, two SBI sales and one person booked an appointment on my blog.
Four people signed up for RU including the one who booked the appointment. I checked, and all of these new leads came directly from the new Twitter friends. When they follow me on Twitter, they check out my profile and then go and visit my content.
I have lots of direct mail I haven't had a chance to go through, so who knows what other opportunities I have yet to discover!
Once again, the value you provide above and beyond what we expected at Renegade University is beyond price. Thank you!!!!

We've gotten a lot of GREAT feedback from Saturday's Twitter course. I was surprised we had over 500 people register for that class! And in August even!
If you had registered for the class but missed it, we'll be emailing you the link to the recording in a day or two. Renegade University students will have access to this for a short time as well since we promised this particular class to everyone free. Of course, Marketing Merge Professionals will also get access to the class and it will be permanently archived in the Professional back office.

If You're in Network Marketing NOW is a Great Time to Join Twitter to Grow Your List and "Brand" Yourself
Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 05:16PM Mike Klingler First, what is Twitter?
Twitter is another fantastic way to build and stay connected to your audience.
It's probably one of the easiest social Web 2.0 sites to set up and start using.
As we should all know by now, building and communicating with an audience is the key to success in business.
That's the fundamental message in the new network marketing model (also called 'attraction marketing'). By building an audience (such as an email list) you're able to deliver ongoing information to your 'contacts' that is deemed valuable.
This builds you up as a trustworthy person to know, buy from, and do business with.
- You can put your 'offers' in front of your audience.
- You can find high quality prospects from your 'list' or audience.
- Your audience is a real asset that follows you forever, regardless of whether or not your MLM company goes out of business or not.
But building an email list is just one of many ways to build and communicate with your audience.
In the social Web 2.0 world, you can build a fan club (which is your 'audience') at many social marketing Web 2.0 locations.
Here are just some of them you may know about:
- Social book marking locations like Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.
- Squidoo
- Hub Pages
- People can follow your blog posts with RSS
And these are just a few examples, which we've been teaching you inside Marketing Merge Professional.
Search for "Renegade University" on Google to get a free introduction to how to start using all of these synergistically together to build your audience bigger and faster.
Another fantastic way to build your audience is by using Twitter.
Twitter is amazingly simple. It basically works like this:
You give people your Twitter web link. For example, I give out http://www.Twitter.com/MikeKlingler
I might send that to my email list, give it out in various blog posts like I just did, or share it at FaceBook, etc.
When people go to that address they can quickly choose to 'follow' me on Twitter.
If someone follows you on Twitter it means that each time you send out an update about something, they will see it.
This is similar to a feature at Facebook where you Update everyone about what you're doing.
People who are already using Twitter can find you there. For example, if you choose to 'follow' other people, then their audience will see you. If they have seen your name or face before in the social web 2.0 world, they may click on it and decide to 'follow you.' Your audience grows.
If you post a good blog article, Squidoo lens, Hub Page or some other article or web post, you can post it there at Twitter very quickly. Everyone who is following you will see it. That means more traffic and exposure to that Blog post or article, which is what you want.
But even if you're not promoting something like an article (or whatever it may be) you can still send a message update out on Twitter from time to time that keeps your name and face in front of your audience.
Since those people who follow you on Twitter see your update when they log into their Twitter account, it's just more 'branding' exposure for you. I might let people know on Twitter that "I'm currently working from a nice coffee shop on my laptop off the Oregon Coast." Those who follow me on Twitter see that and think, "Hmm... he lives a cool lifestyle," and once more they see my face and name. While they peruse the Internet and they see an article with my picture and name again, they are more likely to read it.
The more people see you and hear from you--the more they are apt to buy from you or want to know more about what you offer.
Twitter is another great way to do that. And it's probably one of the most simplest of ways... it's
